Review of Fournée Bakery
Recently, my family and I went to our favorite bakery located in Berkeley. We first found out about a few years ago from our friends and we have been hooked since! The bakery has an amazing selection of pastries, breads, and sandwiches all of which are amazing!
I had an almond croissant that had a delicious, rich almond cream filling and topped with more almonds. I love almond croissants that have a strong almond flavor, and this definitely fits the bill. The croissant itself is airy, light, and buttery. I highly recommend the almond croissant!
The quiche is something I always get at Fournée. They have two varieties: quiche Lorraine and veggie quiche. I have had both and they are both delicious! The egg custard is smooth and creamy and the veggies mixed in (chard, caramelized onions, broccoli, and chives) complement the custard well. The crust of the quiche is buttery and flaky. I also highly recommend either of the quiches at Fournée!
Fournée has a delicious morning bun! I love the cinnamon flavor that is swirled throughout the flaky pastry, then rolled in sugar. Yum!
One of the popular items at Fournée is the ham and egg croissant. My dad and sister like to get this croissant a lot. The combination of egg and ham goes well together, and the textures complement each other well. The croissant is flaky and the herbed bread crumb topping adds another level of flavor.
We also got the seasonal fruit croissant. It was filled with blueberries and sweetened cream cheese and topped with an oat crumble. The combination was very tasty!
We also tried the noisette and oat cookie for the first time. It’s an oat cookie with hazelnuts and gianduja chocolate throughout. This cookie was scrumptious! It was buttery, chewy, cookie with crunchy roasted hazelnuts- heavenly for my family who loves the combination of hazelnuts and chocolate. This is a must get if you like hazelnuts!
Fournée has amazing breads too! Their baguette is so flavorful and aromatic and tastes good without anything on it. It has a crusty outside and soft, airy inside.
