Review of Original Big Island Shave Ice Co, Inc.

The Original Big Island Shave Ice Co is a delicious shave ice store on the Big Island of Hawaii. My family tries to eat here every day of our vacation! They specialize in real fruit flavors and have lots of fun, recommende flavor combinations. The texture of their shave ice is incredibly soft and plush and it immediately melts in your mouth. If you are ever on the island of Hawaii, especially near Kona, make sure to visit!

Passionfruit, Mango, Guava with Haupia Topping

This is a custom shave ice combination that I chose from their dozens of flavors. The passionfruit syrup is tart but sweet, the guava is sweet and floral, and the mango is tropical and refreshing. The haupia drizzle on top provides a creamy note that elevates the whole dessert. I highly recommend this flavor combination for your first trip!

Green Tea

This shave ice had a scoop of vanilla ice cream covered with matcha flavored shave ice, topped with adzuki beans, condensed milk, and house-made mochi. It was absolutely delicious and I especially liked the texture of the mochi. There was enough syrup to flavor all of the ice, and it was the perfect dessert!

I really enjoyed this flavor combination of Haupia ice cream (a traditional Hawaiian coconut milk dessert), mango, pineapple, and coconut syrup, condensed milk, and Haupia drizzle. The tropical flavors of this shave ice makes it perfect on a hot day after a long day at the beach. The three different types of coconut are creamy and rich, which pair wonderfully with the refreshing mango and pineapple flavored shave ice!

Kona Coffee

The Kona Coffee shave ice is my Dad’s favorite. It has a scoop of Kona coffee ice cream, Kona coffee syrup, whipped cream, chocolate and caramel drizzle, condensed milk, and a chocolate wafer cookie. The ice cream is smooth and creamy, and the ice has a strong coffee flavor. If you like coffee you will love this decadent treat!
