Thanksgiving 2020!
This year we decided to make turkey meatloaf instead of a whole turkey for a change. We love the recipe from Ina Garten- it has so much flavor and is not dry, even in the days following! The ketchup on top provides another layer of flavor.
You can’t beat the classic side of mashed potatoes! We used russet potatoes, boiled them and then mashed them with butter, cream, and salt. Yum!
I love Brussels sprouts- I used to hate them but I have come to enjoy them. These Brussels sprouts have toasted hazelnuts and pomegranate seeds with orange juice for brightness and sweetness. They have become a family tradition! They are loosely based off these.
I love pumpkin pie and it’s the classic Thanksgiving dessert! My favorite recipe is from Once Upon a Chef- it has a flavorful filling filled with lots of warm spices and a buttery crust!
The other dessert my family usually makes are these Ultranutty Pecan Bars. My mom doesn’t like pie very much, but absolutely loves these! They have a delicious, delicate shortbread base and lots and lots of pecans covered in a caramel-brown sugar mixture. We make these quite a lot- not just for Thanksgiving!
