Sockerbit Candy Test Test- Part 1

Sockerbit Candy Test Test- Part 1

Sockerbit is a candy store specializing is Swedish Candy. I first discovered it when my dad brought home a large bag of it from a business trip he went on. The candy is unique, and you won’t find it in many other stores! They have locations in New York City and Los Angeles, but you can also order it online like we did! We may have gone a little overboard ordering all the different varieties but it’s for research! This week we are tasting the sour candies and licorice. Next week will be the sweet varieties.

Tasting goes from left to right, top to bottom.

Pinky Skulls- These had a nice delicate raspberry and floral flavor, a good amount of sourness and tang, and had an overall good mix of sour and sweet. The average rating was 9/10

Laserbeams- Even though there were advertised as sour, they didn’t have any sourness to them. The Laserbeams had a nice initial strawberry flavor and a chewy texture. The average rating was 8/10.

Apple Wrenches- This candy was very, very sour, had a firm texture, and a sweet apple aftertaste. The average rating was 9/10.

Tutti Fruity Sour- The texture of this candy was like a gumdrop- it was soft and chewy. It also had a strong bubblegum flavor, with the colors varying slightly in flavors. (some more citrusy than others) These got an average of 8/10.

Swedish Skulls- The Swedish skulls had a indistinctive tropical flavor, a chewy texture, and the slightest bit of sourness. The average rating for these was 8/10.

Soda Pops- This candy was our least favorite- it was not at all sour, tasted a little like a cleaning product, and had a firm chewy texture. They also had a weird aftertaste. This candy had an average rating of 3/10.

Raspberry Pops- This candy was very sour at first with a subtle raspberry flavor, and it had a very chewy/rubbery texture. They had an average rating of 8/10.

Sweet Licorice- This licorice was amazing! It had a great soft, classic licorice texture, and the flavor was not too strong, a classic done right. The licorice got an average of 10/10.

Licorice Mint Chalk- This is my mom’s favorite out of the ones we tried today. It was very minty and I personally didn’t like it. This candy got an average rating of 7/10.

Licorice Crush- My family though that this licorice tasted burnt and it had a slight coconut flavor. My mom also loves this one, but I thought it was gross (and I love licorice!) This licorice variety got an average rating of 6/10.

Overall, our least favorite candy was the Soda Pops, and our favorite was the Sweet Licorice and the Apple Wrenches. Come back next week for part 2 of the Sockerbit taste test!
